June Camp!

I shall revive this blog with this latest post! June camp updates! June Camp this year will not be held in June but on May 30th and 31st, from Saturday morning to Sunday noon. The venue is confirmed to be Tanjong Katong Secondary School. For those who do not know, we'll be in charge of the campfire programme. So expect to sing along songs like Father Abraham, the Eppo(chicken song) and many others! And be prepared to learn the actions along with the songs too. The performances for the campfire will revolve around the theme of advertisements. Each team will advertise a certain item such as chocolate, shampoo, etc. And, the theme of the camp for this year is Environment, so the groups will be named accordingly to the different oceans and continents. Hopefully the camp can proceed as planned and will not be affected by the swine flu outbreak!

Ok some overdue photos...

I think this was the first outdoor activity(orientation?) held this year before a series of unfortunate Saturday showers decided to visit Redhill SHG for several weeks and thwarted our many outdoor activity plans.

Time to introduce some of the new volunteers!

Terng Poh in the grey shirt and Bo Wen in jeans.

Eugene at the extreme left, Benjamin in the white polo-T, Bo Wen, and Larry, beside Xueling.

Benjamin, Bo Wen and Terng Poh.
That's Lynn sitting beside Jinquan.

That's Kelly sitting on the bench.
He's Peng Siong and no he's not one of the new volunteers, but maybe in 10 yrs' time?
Alvin and a few of the girls.
Raymond about to pass the basketball.

Hua Ping reaching for the ball. And that's Terng Poh, Benjamin and Hong Wei in the background.

The picture is a little blur but that's another new volunteer, Zheng Yao at the extreme left, reaching for the ball.

Ok, that's all. Happy Labour Day!

Team Spongebob

The original cheer is supposed to sound like this. But I guess the kids need some time to polish it up.

Team Spongebob! Are you ready?!

Leader: Who lives in the Pineapple under the sea?!
Everyone: Spongebob Squarepants!
~Boys (Macho voice, action): SPONGEBOB
Girls (Bimbo voice, action): SQUAREPANTS ~
[repeat ~ thrice]
Everyone: Spongebobb........ SQUAREPANTS! (EVIL LAUGH HIAK HIAK HIAK HIAK HIAK).

I guess I will help them work on the macho and bimbo voice. And some actions. and the evil laugh.

Anyway, i was the one who DISCOURAGED them from using SHE Farenheit!
And Spongebob is YELLOW. hahaha.

group names and cheers!

so quieeeeeet... i shall talk some crap then! =p somehow the sky likes to rain on saturday afternoons. particularly the saturday afternoons that we want to carry out outdoor activities... as a result, the captain's ball game had to be discontinued and the kids had to go back to the centre. they were split up into 4 groups and had to come up with a group name and cheer. there's the spartans... the SHE Farenheit (i heard that it's because they've got 3 girls and 4 guys)... gryodon (i think i got the spelling right... it's some don't-know-what pokemon...) and lastly... ahem... the chenyi group -.-" that's really the most unique group name that i've ever came across. as for the cheers, i loved the spongebob squarepants cheer by SHE Farenheit most. haha. so cute. xueling, junhong and i were saying how the volunteer leading the discussion seems to have a rather great influence on how the group names and cheers turn out... it's obvious who led the chenyi group. then there's the SHE Farenheit... i think pohjee can guess who led that group right. the gryodon group with the north, south, east, west cheer was led by shuhui... she can actually talk on the same frequency as the kids... some earthquake causing some pokemon to evolve into gryodon o_0 it has been a really long while since i last played pokemon. wahaha. i'm hooked on mousehunt now. in fact -one third- of my class is. and i used to think nus pharmacy students are muggers. anyway, the last group is the spartans led by yuhui. haha.

we've been steadily growing in size since the start of the year. our uncle foo is too efficient in recruitment liao. from being so worried that we won't have enough volunteers to managing to achieve 1-to-1. i think redhill shg has never had so many volunteers and kids before right? cool~ we may actually need 2 buses for june camp this year. i can't wait for june camp! so fun~

enjoy your long weekends! see you all this saturday! =)
