Ready for School

Hello! This is an update on our latest event, Ready for School!

As usual, we had the packing of vouchers.. =)

The guys were in charge of moving the goodie packs, while the girls were stationed at the distribution counters. Xueling appeared on the news!

I guess the more interesting part started after the goodie pack distribution. We stayed at HQ to play Saboteur. =P Yuhan finally won some gold after a few rounds.

Then we headed down to Clarke Quay's Game Haven to play Wii. Me, Xueling, Yuhui, Pohjee, James, Jenyi and Cheeyun. Now we know who has no motor skills, and who is in need of improving her guitar skills. =P

The original plan was to stay overnight but I guess we were all too old for that =P

After the distribution today, we had a pool session and ate char kuay teow from a famous stall in marine parade. There was a lot of leftover..... yup...

Okae.. that's a short update! =D Any photos, anyone?

Next up would be the chalet and 2 weddings. Looking forward to 2010!

LAN + pool session at clementi!

yo~ this place is dead once more so i shall talk crap! xiaolee, jenyi, james, hongwei, eugene and i met up on thursday to play LAN! it was xiaolee's 2nd time, james' 1st time, and my quite 1st time too. we played Left 4 Dead, followed by some wu liao chase each other's airplanes game and counterstrike. interesting... but super sian by the 3rd hour~ i wonder why guys like to play LAN. haha.

after that we had satay and rojak! followed by 3 hours of pool~ eugene was obviously the most zai of us all. haha. i think the funniest part was how james, xiaolee and i finished 1 game in the same time that jenyi, hongwei and eugene finished 3!

trying to plan for a trip to forest adventure next week! yay i finally can get to go there after hoping and wishing for a whole year. probably can post up some photos if we do go! =)

talking about photos, here are some from xiaolee's birthday party last saturday...

June Camp!

I shall revive this blog with this latest post! June camp updates! June Camp this year will not be held in June but on May 30th and 31st, from Saturday morning to Sunday noon. The venue is confirmed to be Tanjong Katong Secondary School. For those who do not know, we'll be in charge of the campfire programme. So expect to sing along songs like Father Abraham, the Eppo(chicken song) and many others! And be prepared to learn the actions along with the songs too. The performances for the campfire will revolve around the theme of advertisements. Each team will advertise a certain item such as chocolate, shampoo, etc. And, the theme of the camp for this year is Environment, so the groups will be named accordingly to the different oceans and continents. Hopefully the camp can proceed as planned and will not be affected by the swine flu outbreak!

Ok some overdue photos...

I think this was the first outdoor activity(orientation?) held this year before a series of unfortunate Saturday showers decided to visit Redhill SHG for several weeks and thwarted our many outdoor activity plans.

Time to introduce some of the new volunteers!

Terng Poh in the grey shirt and Bo Wen in jeans.

Eugene at the extreme left, Benjamin in the white polo-T, Bo Wen, and Larry, beside Xueling.

Benjamin, Bo Wen and Terng Poh.
That's Lynn sitting beside Jinquan.

That's Kelly sitting on the bench.
He's Peng Siong and no he's not one of the new volunteers, but maybe in 10 yrs' time?
Alvin and a few of the girls.
Raymond about to pass the basketball.

Hua Ping reaching for the ball. And that's Terng Poh, Benjamin and Hong Wei in the background.

The picture is a little blur but that's another new volunteer, Zheng Yao at the extreme left, reaching for the ball.

Ok, that's all. Happy Labour Day!

Team Spongebob

The original cheer is supposed to sound like this. But I guess the kids need some time to polish it up.

Team Spongebob! Are you ready?!

Leader: Who lives in the Pineapple under the sea?!
Everyone: Spongebob Squarepants!
~Boys (Macho voice, action): SPONGEBOB
Girls (Bimbo voice, action): SQUAREPANTS ~
[repeat ~ thrice]
Everyone: Spongebobb........ SQUAREPANTS! (EVIL LAUGH HIAK HIAK HIAK HIAK HIAK).

I guess I will help them work on the macho and bimbo voice. And some actions. and the evil laugh.

Anyway, i was the one who DISCOURAGED them from using SHE Farenheit!
And Spongebob is YELLOW. hahaha.

group names and cheers!

so quieeeeeet... i shall talk some crap then! =p somehow the sky likes to rain on saturday afternoons. particularly the saturday afternoons that we want to carry out outdoor activities... as a result, the captain's ball game had to be discontinued and the kids had to go back to the centre. they were split up into 4 groups and had to come up with a group name and cheer. there's the spartans... the SHE Farenheit (i heard that it's because they've got 3 girls and 4 guys)... gryodon (i think i got the spelling right... it's some don't-know-what pokemon...) and lastly... ahem... the chenyi group -.-" that's really the most unique group name that i've ever came across. as for the cheers, i loved the spongebob squarepants cheer by SHE Farenheit most. haha. so cute. xueling, junhong and i were saying how the volunteer leading the discussion seems to have a rather great influence on how the group names and cheers turn out... it's obvious who led the chenyi group. then there's the SHE Farenheit... i think pohjee can guess who led that group right. the gryodon group with the north, south, east, west cheer was led by shuhui... she can actually talk on the same frequency as the kids... some earthquake causing some pokemon to evolve into gryodon o_0 it has been a really long while since i last played pokemon. wahaha. i'm hooked on mousehunt now. in fact -one third- of my class is. and i used to think nus pharmacy students are muggers. anyway, the last group is the spartans led by yuhui. haha.

we've been steadily growing in size since the start of the year. our uncle foo is too efficient in recruitment liao. from being so worried that we won't have enough volunteers to managing to achieve 1-to-1. i think redhill shg has never had so many volunteers and kids before right? cool~ we may actually need 2 buses for june camp this year. i can't wait for june camp! so fun~

enjoy your long weekends! see you all this saturday! =)

the 1st meeting of 2009!

yo~ it's quiet here. so i shall blog about the meeting today! or come to think of it, yesterday (sat). redhill shg is probably going to be the largest centre again this year~ 28 students and 23 volunteers if i'm not wrong. 8 new volunteers too! welcome welcome~ and in the meantime, a couple of the old volunteers are on a 1/2 year break... like poh jee and chee tong. not sure who else. it's going to be so re4 nao4~

going to have the house system again this year. decided to have the theme of superheroes! going to let the kids decide their group names since most of us are pretty out of touch with superheroes that are popular amongst the kids nowadays.

and as a few of us discussed during the chalet, we'll be trying out something new... drama sessions! the kids will get to act and later on in the year, we hope to have them come up with their own scripts as well. hope this plan will succeed!

orientation will be starting next week. going to have games during the activity session for the following 3 weeks to allow the students and volunteers to get to know each other better.

looks like an exciting year for the red angels!

paiseh that i have to siam arrows, like the one that our uncle foo shot... to lead the drama programme. after the mid sem break next next week, it's a continuous string of tests, assignment deadlines and presentations. right up to exams in end april. and it doesn't stop there! there's still the hospital attachment after that o_0 need to mug hard!

k k. shall end here! see you all next week!
